As that old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. This one, speaks volumes to the unapologetic, unremitting and flagrant racism in #Hollywood to literally erase and make invisible people of the global majority from open public spaces.
Not only have the #WhiteSupremacist production companies in Hollywood exhibited their forced removal of people of color from the screen by #Whitewashing roles originally created for a person of color, but they've also categorically created these "ethnic" roles to be hypersterotypical and exaggerated.
In the year 2015, Hollywood producers CONTINUE to exhibit their racism through oppressive institutional practices, perfectly illustrated in this year's #Pan film where #RooneyMara plays the role of #TigerLily. A White American woman of DIRECT European descent was cast as and accepted the part of....wait for it....a NATIVE AMERICAN GIRL NAMED TIGER LILY!! The Peter Pan book, that began as a play written by J. M. Barrie in the early 1900s, created the Tiger Lily character then as a #NATIVEAMERICAN girl, which she was referred to several times as a "savage." While this character is fictional, the Whitewashing of Tiger Lily in this year's Pan film is exceptionally offensive due to the overt erasure of COUNTLESS Native American actresses in Hollywood that would have had an extensive space and platform to enhance their visibility!
Despite, the innumerable media posts against Hollywood's unceasing patterns of White Supremacist behavior, such as Whitewashing, as another old adage goes..."until lions have their historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunter!".....African Proverb
